Osma Alum Shaving Soap

I’ve been using this soap for years. Don’t need anything else! Slick long lasting lather. Best worked up on the face, not in a bowl or scuttle. Just wet fingertips, rub it on top of the cake, take a wet brush, shake out the water and then load your brush to make a thick paste. Start applying that to your skin adding a few drops of water occasionally as you go along. The lather will just bloom from there. Makes an amazing lather. Pleasant non-perfume smell that does not hang around after the shave. Alum leaves face refreshed and even prevents little weepers. One cake lasts a LONG time. If you have only one soap, this is the one to have!!!

First impression

Compared to my usual Proraso for sensitive skin (white tub) same blade/razor: Lathered really well (better) and easily but did not seem as slick when shaving BUT had no irritation and fewer nicks (using what I consider an aggressive blade). Amount of product appeared to be a lot less than a tub of Proraso but considering that this is a hard dry puck with less water, you might be coming out ahead. Will continue to use and get a better impression but for now, happy with the purchase and would consider buying again. Would prefer to buy without the plastic container but individual puck was out of stock.

Takes a Bit of Experimenting

Osma is an interesting soap because its alum base. It takes a bit of experimenting to get the right amount of water on the brush to work up a decent lather (hint: it doesn't take very much), but once you hit the sweet spot you can get a great shave with Osma. It has a pleasant light scent and leaves your face feeling nice and toned because of the alum.
