The only difference between the Henson AL13 and the Henson AL13 Medium is the blade gap and blade exposure. These measurements control the "aggressiveness" of the shave.

For finer hair and shaving areas other than the face, a milder razor is generally desired. Go for the AL13. For coarser hair, the aggression of the AL13-Medium razor may be more suitable. For even heavier beard growth go for the new Aggressive Version of this razor.

I like the improvements made since the first model came out. The knurling on the handle is much better and I like the chamfered edges and indentations on the top plates.

Close Shaves Only

I purchased the Henson razor recently and went with the medium aggression. I am very happy with it, I believe I have slightly sensitive skin and did not have any issues with it causing any razor burn. I would recommend using one of shave nations potassium alum blocks I did still nick myself around my chin. Overall the best razor I own at the moment.

The first shave ever with a safety razor without a nick!!
Also the closest shave I've achieved with a safety razor.
I mostly use cartridge razors, but have a basic butterfly top safety razor for the first pass when I haven't shaved in days - just to take down the length. Now I don't need the cartridges. This razor handles the longer growth with ease & the 2nd pass leaves no stubble. I'm satisfied with this - will never buy a cartridge again.
