Parker Semi-Slant Bar Safety Razor

This is a mild aggressive razor. Provides a really close and comfortable shave. Weight and length are perfect. Really nice finish and well made. Absolutely my go to razor now. I own various Parker razors. There favorite and brand I purchased. This definitely a razor is a good beginner razor with the proper technique.

Had always wanted to try a slant so figured this would be a good intro. First shave was smooth BBS shave, no cuts or weepers and minimal feedback from alum bar. Razor is great quality for the price.

The Parker Semi Slant has become my favorite razor, I have collect several but seem to always reach for this one. It is very smooth as it glides against my skin, it has a good heft so no pressure is required, just set it against your face and let it do the work. It is more efficient than my other razors, the slant makes it like one of those mandolins my wife uses to slice vegetables, so you have to pay attention to what you are doing, no distractions allowed. It took me a week or two to get used to it, but now I find I prefer it to my other safety razors.

It has a nice heft, is well balanced in the hand, and the knurling is rough enough so it won't slip in wet hands. I also appreciate the long handle, that makes it very easy to use. I have a Mule, Henson, Dovo and a Rockwell, but the Parker Semi Slant for me is the better option, for all the reasons noted above I tend to use it the most. It is well made, and looks great (black & matted silver); I can certainly recommend it.

The Razor: I have sensitive skin, especially on my neck. My previous razors from the past few years are the Rockwell 6C, Leaf Twig, Henson AL-13, and the Supply SE. They are good razors, but I’ve had mixed results with all of them. I wanted to experiment with a slant, and the Parker was affordable enough for me to try it. The fit/finish is good enough for $30. The shaves have been excellent. It feels much more aggressive than what I’ve been used to, but it’s very smooth. It’s been the closest one-pass shaver I’ve ever used, I’m very impressed. The aggressive feel helps remind me to use minimal pressure, and I’ve had greatly reduced skin irritation. For the price, it’s worth trying.

I'm still new to shaving with a safety razor and after shaving with a starter kit from van der Hagen, I decided to buy a new razor and this razor did not disappoint. The slant on the razor helps the blade cut through my hair like nothing. I love the handle and the weight.
