I bought this to replace my previous lather bowl which was just a metal bowl I bought on amazon. Unsurprisingly I couldn't build any lather with my old bowl but with this bowl it's so easy to build tons of slick lather. I use TOBS and Proraso and they both lather very easily with this bowl and my synthetic brush.
I bought this to try using shaving cream from a tube. The bowl works, but I don't think using a brush to apply shaving cream offers any benefit for me other than being faster than applying with my hands. I didn't like the shaving cream I purchased and I'm not willing to continue to buy more to see if I might change my mind.
The paint job on the bowl smacks of cheap, made in China quality.
Great bowl for sure. Really any of Geo’s shave bowls are top notch and unbeatable! The design of the bowls fit perfectly in the hand. If you watch any of Geo’s shave videos you will find out quickly that this man could shave upside down in a hurricane with a piece of jagged glass and come out with the perfect shave! I got the safety razor down pat but still working on the straight razor. Maybe one day i can ascend to greatness and be at the same level! One regret though i missed out on the midnight blue color in the ceramic bowl and artisan bowl. Maybe one day they will be back in stock and i can add those to my growing collection :)
I’ve been using the collapsible “dog bowl” style for years with great success, they’re awesome, especially for travel, but I wanted a really nice bowl for home. I am not disappointed, great design, whips a lather in a jiffy, easy to hold, it’ll last the rest of my days. My kids will inherit this, along w/my stainless razors! Awesome bowl!
