I shave with a Henson AL-13 Mild, and I shave my head and face. I have relatively sensitive skin and my hair is neither fine nor coarse. On my head, it grows in very thick where it still grows in. I'm currently working my way through 12 different brands of blade trying to find what works best for me. Tonight, these just put the previous winners (Astra Greens) in 2nd place.
I have a scale of 1 to 9 for aggressiveness. Basically each Mild, Medium or Aggressive level gets further broken down into three categories of Mild, Medium or Aggressive. The result is that blades get classified anywhere from Mild Mild to Aggressive Aggressive on my scale.
Even with a Henson Mild, I have to use Mild blades in order to get a good head shave without nicks or cuts because my head is kinda bumpy in places. RK blades rate Mild Mild, and these rate Medium Mild. I have found a brand that is Aggressive Mild, but that's pushing my luck, and Mild Mild is too mild.
Because RK blades are so mild, It takes forever to shave with RK blades in my Henson Mild razor. But these are perfect! They're too mild to cut me, but aggressive enough to be effective without taking forever to do the job. They don't give me razor burn even if I go over an area several times. And amazingly, they allow me to get a BBS shave on my head, which is challenging to say the least.
But it doesn't stop there. So far every other blade I have tried - other than Astra Green - has only lasted 1-2.5 shaves before I was forced to change it out. This included Feather, Kai, RK and all the other famous ones that were at least mild enough to make it to the longevity test.
Astras held the record at 6 shaves maximum, averaging 4-5. But I just had my 7th shave with this blade and it's not showing signs of wearing out! I thought that was impossible! The first two shaves were excellent, and then it stabilized at Very Good. Every shave since has been Very Good. I can feel it a little more after the 2nd shave as it cuts through the hair, but the sharpness is staying amazingly steady since then. I would be surprised if I did not get at least another 2 or 3 more shaves out of this blade.
The nice thing is, they're also cheap enough that you can shave once or twice and then replace them. So they are a great option for those who want to maximize thriftiness by getting as many shaves as possible, and they're great for those who just want to have the best shaves the blade has to offer and then replace it.
These are a very nice surprise. Definitely worth a try if you haven't tried them before!
