The Parker 99R is an extremely popular safety razor. Launched in 2008, this hefty razor was an immediate success because of the awesome shave quality it delivered. The razor has a distinguished knurled handle, heavyweight feel and a unique butterfly door mechanism which is activated by turning the knob at the bottom of the razor. It is a great razor for both new and seasoned wet shaving enthusiasts.

Great Shave, But Aggressive

I love this razor! Gives me a close shave with just two passes. There are some caveats, though. This thing is aggressive! You really have to have a light touch and let the weight of the razor do the work for you, especially in the chin, mouth and Adam's Apple areas. You put too much pressure on it and you will get a serious discomfort/cuts. Since this is so aggressive, I have to take great care and go slow around my lips. I'm still nicking myself in that area. I have also found that there's too much space between the blade and the right/left side of the razor - makes shaving under the nostrils difficult.

My solution to the lips/nostril areas...use my Merkur 34C. It's so forgiving, and it finishes the job nicely.

Don't get me wrong, I am super happy with the Parker. Just wanted to share my learning curve. I LOVE the TTO. And I LOVE the knurling on the handle; it's deep and it gives you really good grip when your hands are wet/soapy.

Blade was aligning

The blade was not aligning properly. Despite trying to correct it by manipulating the over hang.

Right on the money

I'm relatively new to DE shaving, so I was unsure how this razor would compare to the simple three-piece I had been working with. The blade reveal is just as aggressive as I need it to be for my coarse stubble. The butterfly action is sturdy and easy to operate. Loving the weight and balance of this razor. Well done, Parker.

Mid aggressive and very smooth. Parker razors provide terrific value and shave as well as the artisans.

Excellent Beautiful Razor

The Parker 99R is my very first safety razor and it's a great one! After watching you Geo, I made the switch from cartridge razors to safety razors. And now I'm never going back. I've also purchased the Merkur 38C lol. You get a very efficient and baby smooth shave. I'm very happy! I've also purchased the full green proraso lineup with a simpsons shaving brush and shave nation bowl as well.
