I decided to buy this lather bowl after watching a whole bunch of the Geofatboy videos on YouTube. Seeing him whip up that thick, luxurious uber lather really got me interested in seeing what one of these bowls could do. I was NOT disappointed.
I tried a smaller steel bowl and that was ok, but it took some effort to work up a good lather. Also, I found that I’d get lather all over my shave brush handle and hands. It was annoying and a bit of a sloppy start to that BBS shave we’re all after.
This bowl is great! I like that it’s made of steel which means it’s unbreakable, but it also retains some heat. The cavity at the bottom of the bowl and the ridges on the side really make it easy to work up an uber lather so thick and creamy that you’ll want to eat it. Don’t do that though, just enjoy an awesome shave.

I realized that the bowls I'd been using were not producing the "uber lather" I'd seen in Geofatboy's videos, so I purchased the Shave Nation bowl and haven't been disappointed. It's just the right size for my shaving station, is indestructible, and turns my Proraso cream into a mountain of lather. And I love the zing the rescue-red color adds to my shaving area. Packing was excellent, service to my door outstanding, with a handwritten line of thanks personalized to me in the package making a new friend. I look forward to doing more business with you in the future!
It easily builds great lather. It’s great that it’s supposed to be extremely durable.
Shave nation got it right with this bowl. I fill the bowl with hot water while I’m showering to prep it for my shave. The ridge design along with its heat retention creates a very warm foam that feels fantastic on your face. From the first pass to the last, you feel the warmth. The colors available ( I got the blue) are bold and contrast nicely with my shaving supplies. The weight and design is easy to hold, even with wet hands. I also bought one for my 19yo son, along with a complete shaving kit for Christmas, as he is now shaving regularly. The quality of this bowl will outlast me making it the ideal gift for an heirloom for my son, man to man! Shave Nation got it right with this bowl! It’s a little pricey. But I’m a firm believer of you get what you pay for. And it’s no doubt worth it.
