I love this shavette. Blade changes are effortless, and the cutouts let snapped half-blades sit perfectly flush—no fuss, no fiddling. The machining quality is excellent, and the fact that it’s made in the USA is a big plus for me.
I originally bought a Parker SRX, but returned it after noticing it was made in India and came across this instead—glad I did. The aluminum construction is another advantage: I can rinse it under the faucet without worrying about rust (unlike a high-carbon straight razor), and a quick wipe-down keeps it looking great.
Not having to hone or strop is a huge convenience, and I always get a clean, sharp blade. I shave every other day, and it’s been consistently solid.
If I could change anything, I’d move the toe of the blade slightly closer to the tip of the holder for a bit more precision. I’d also love to see more handle colors or material options in the future.
After a serious auto accident I stopped shaving with a straight razor for a couple of years while my hands steadied. Once ready, I bought this shavette to test whether I was ready to resume a manly shave. The light weight and ergonomics were just what the doctor ordered. Could not believe it. Not one nick or cut even with only using commercial shaving cream and cold water. It wasn't my skill. It was the Proof straight razor that yielded a great shave. Well worth the price.
As a 9yr barber. I have dreamed of the day I found a razor like this. The fit,, feel, Function is just the best. I am very particular to how things feel and this meets all my expectations. Proof did it right, the reviews I read on there site are not hype.
