Incredible brush. Takes days to dry. Soft tips but firm below. Makes fantastic lather. The only comparable brush I have is the Mondial 1908 Radica Briar Wood Brush with High Mountain Badger XXL. This one needs a wide diameter stand not to pinch!

Worth saving for! I have other silver tip badger brushes that are nice to compare this one to.I have to say this brush is the nicest I have used. Simpsons brush lathers very nicely and feels good on the face, just like a nice razor I figured having a nice brush for shaving every day is worth it. Just do it! No regrets

This was a costly acquisition, but I really wanted it and I am now satisfied. It satifies my desire for a highest-quality brush to alternate with my other two more affordable ones(Italian and German made) Be careful to not deform the edge of your razor blade by shaving over loose badger hair bristles that inevitably shed from the massive bundle/knot, while it is in relatively new condition. You will feel the difference if it happens.

I never thought I’d spend this kind of money on a shaving brush, but let me tell you: I do not regret it. It was a splurge, and I am undoubtedly pampering myself, but it is very enjoyable to use. There is just something about the way that a natural hair brush feels heavy as it picks up water, and the way that it flicks back and forth when handled wet. I enjoy the way that it visibly expands when soaking in water, and the amount of backbone that it boasts while maintaining a gentle softness on my face. It makes a fantastic lather! Is it softer than modern synthetics? No, it is not. You can also get the same quality lather with a synthetic brush, albeit with a bit more attention to adding water to the lather as you build it, but synthetics are comparatively devoid of character. They are easier to take care of, but they are also comparatively lifeless. You don’t get a brush like this because you need it to have a quality, enjoyable shave. You get a brush like this because you get enjoyment out of using it, and because it adds to the experience and luxury of your shave. You own a brush like this because it puts a smile on your face and fills you with appreciation for the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail that the fine people at Simpson have put into this handmade brush. It’s a work of art, comprised of thousands of individually selected hairs that are packed into what I consider to be the perfect knot. It has become a highlight of my day, and it is a real joy to use.
