Dovo-Conk Straight Razor 5/8 Blade Cocobolo Wood Handle

First, I live in Texas and received this razor in two days, great service and shipping.
I purchased a Boker stainless last month and wanted to try something totally different as a comparison. I wanted to try a Dovo, carbon steel, 1/2 hollow grind and wood handle. I really wanted the Dovo Forestal but it was a full hollow. Not really impressed with the Col Conk print, but had to settle for it. I am a novice straight razor shaver (about 6 weeks), with a light beard. I heard that 1/2 hollow was a little stiffer than a full hollow and I wanted to find out. Comparing my Boker full hollow with this half hollow blade from their ends, there is a slight difference in the taper. I took this razor straight from the metal case and shaved, as is, and it was shave ready for me. Again, being a novice and maybe not able to pick up the subtle differences, I felt like this was a little stiffer blade. Could have been my imagination. I do know with my full hollow Boker, I always have trouble with my chin and have to make several passes. With this Dovo 1/2 hollow, I was able to get the job done in a normal pass. I don't know if I just improved or the blade is a little stiffer and allowed it to stay with the curve of my chin. Overall, I felt a got a better shave with this than with my Boker Stainless full hollow. (The Boker is still a great shaver).
Overall I really liked the feel and the shave with this razor and would recommend it. 09/26/2015
