Muhle R95 Rocca Birch Bark Closed Comb Stainless Steel Safety Razor

First, let me note how happy I am to have found Shavenation.com. My order was shipped the same day, and arrived lightening-quick. It was well-packaged, and even included a sticker (small gestures do matter).

I placed the order for the Rocca after having inquired about 3 razors I was considering: The Muhle Rocca with a birch bark handle, the Henson AL-13 Medium, and the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6. Based upon my description ( I wanted a medium razor, not too mild, but not too aggressive, either), Geo suggested the Muhle. Truth be told I was leaning in that direction, but that really helped solidify my decision.

Although they don't number in the multiple dozens, I do have a nice collection of razors, not to mention enough soaps for the next century, and multiple brushes, ranging from synthetic to silver tip badger.

All I can say is that I was blown away by the shave with this razor. Previously, I had thought of the term "efficient" as basically synonymous with "aggressive." This razor made the difference very clear. This thing GENTLY removed all of my beard quickly. What would normally take 2 or 3 passes WTG was cleared in 1 pass.

Here's the bad news: This razor is so good, that I think I'll only use my others out of guilt. The Rocca is on an entirely different level from my Edwin Jagger, Fatip, Merkurs, other Muhles, and Razorock, just to name a few. To be sure, those are all good razors, but the Rocca just does an unequalled job without being aggressive or biting.

Order handling and shipping are great as always. The razor is a nice step between the mild R89 and the almost frightening R41.

This razor is absolutely the best! I have two Merkur razors that I like but 34G has the gold coming off. I did lots of reasearch and ran across the Muhle R95 Rocca Birch Bark razor. It is much more expensive that many other razors but I have to say, I think the double the price of my Merkur was worth it!! The handle length is just nice, the Birch bark feels very good in the hand, even when wet. It is not slippery at all. The brushed look of the metal pieces looks very nice indeed. I am still getting used to the three piece razor over the two piece but this razor is fantastic. It is a bit more agressive of a shaver, which I was looking for. The razor blade that came with it was maybe one of the sharpest I have used..

Overall, it is a pricey razor. In my opinion, it is worth it and possibly the last razor one would want to purchase. High qualit for sure.

The head on the R95 is incredible. It provides a clean, nick free shave on the first pass. If a pass is too shallow buffing is easy. Excellent addition to my razor shelf. My new favorite above my R41 and 34C, which are both excellent as well.

The top of the razor had a small noticeable scratch which kind of bummed me out when I first opened the box but I've gotten past it. Nothing's perfect. It really is a very nice looking razor. I like it having some weight to it. Before I got this razor I had a Merkur 34c. The Rocca is definitely more aggressive. I nicked myself the first few times. Still, I love using it and have gotten used to it. The handle has a nice feel to it. You won't slip. A great razor!
