Edwin Jagger Closed Comb DE89LBL Lined Chrome Safety Razor

The razor is good, but the threads on the handle seem too loose. Lots of play and wobble as you screw on the handle to the head. Never had one this loose..

This is my second Safety Razor purchase from Shave Nation in two weeks, because of the fair prices and exemplary customer service. 

I’ve been watching Geo Fatboy’s very informative shaving videos, and I’ve learn a great deal from him, so I thought it would be just to make some purchases from him. And because of the second to none customer service & support… I’m now a loyal customer for life. I’d much rather purchase from a small business who values their customers, rather then by from the monolithic online stores any day of the week.

This Edwin Jagger DE89 is a beautiful well built razor that gives a mild yet efficient shave. Combined with a Feather Blade, it can easily shave 3 or 4 days of growth of my very course beard, while being super smooth and mild enough to shave daily, as I most often do.

The Jagger DE89LBL razor feels solid and substantial in the hand and it's easy to grip with wet fingers. It has a very pleasant heft and good balance. The chrome finish is superb, the best of my collection. It has given me close shaves with a variety of blades (including the Feather) without requiring much, if any, pressure on the face. It gives me a noticeably closer shave than my Merkur 34C without the drama of the closer shaving Muele R41. The DE89LBL is my preferred razor when I'm in a hurry although if I have the time, I reach for my Muele R41. I can whip the DE89 around my face without drawing blood as opposed to the R41 which eagerly wounds the careless. I'd say an R41 shave gives me a 4-6 hour advantage over a DE89 shave; ie: a fresh DE89 shave is about the same as 4-6 hour old R41 shave. There is a learning curve with the R41. It took me about a dozen shaves before I could reliably get a close shave without tasting blood. Now it seems like old hat. In comparison, the DE89LBL was bloodless right out of the box.
